With the general idea set for a rap song made to a quality standard. Time was then set out on friday for The ambient studio with the blue (Better) Drum kit, Several mics including the NT2A, NT5 And Morgan's microphone from home. The plan will be to close mic with the NT2a top and bottom of each of the drums, snare, toms etc. NT5 for specialty items like metal scoops and other objects for high pitch metallic sounds, and also possibly for room ambience, to add back in after the samples have been created to keep it sounding real and warm. There will also be a coincident pair of cardioid mics placed in front of the drums, this will just be a guide track for how the panning of the drums will work, the idea is to pan in a realistic sense from the listeners point of view
The Drums will then be layered, sampled and put into a daw in the pre determined midi structure, if there's time on Friday I will also be patching the synths through some outboard gear. so that I can use some of the awesome sounding effect units In place of the not so great sounding ones in daw Problems
Already I believe our group is running in to problems, we're a week behind on the drum samples because Morgan's computer has been on the fritz and we've been unable to start pre production on the drums because of it. However as a contingency plan both blake and my self have been researching drum micing techniques and working on other parts of the project like synth production and will book time in the raven studio to get some headway
