With the base of the song done it was time to start the vocals, however trouble arose when the original vocalist bailed on the day of recording. Luckily Jordan was available to help. While the first vocal session wasn't the best I learned many things from it, in regards to what works with Jordans voice and what his good/bad takes were. In the first session we recorded the full song and some of the parts were good, however a lot of the parts were out of time or out of key or both. I used a Logic Pitch correction plugin that made it sound better but not great. Since then I've done more work with vocals and plan to run the vocal tracks through the izotope nectar plugin instead, it changes the pitch without distorting the sound.

I find the best way to learn is by making mistakes and not doing them again, so suffice to say I wont be using sub par plugins. On the second vocal session we re recorded the first verse and I recorded myself on the chorus vocals. This turned out much better dynamically, because I'm better at holding a note. I turned down the pitch correction plugin as well as the response so that it was only just affecting the sound. I kept the correction on the prechorus because it gave a feeling of change that was coming. The panning originally was all over the place from the first session because of the way I cut and edited the audio files, it was very amatuerish. Luckily during the second take I was more prepared, I had the vocals compressing slightly on the way in, and only had to add reverb and a little eq around the 11k range. This along side bringing the synth elements down in the mix made the vocals and the drums the stand outs of the song. I'm still unhappy with the chorus but I'm not sure what it's missing, it may be the amount of reverb so I'll try fixing that up, or it may just be that it's my own voice that I'm not liking.
