Social media is what controls the world these days, with over half the world online it's a huge market that is just waiting to be tapped into. The key to having a good online presence is to keep the information up over a long period of time. The majority of people use social media to communicate with their friends or relatives but don't think about the marketability of it. It's an excellent way of having your best side seen by millions. Here are 8 steps that I'm now following in order to gain momentum and break into the social media outlet. 1. Creating a vision. Having an idea for a company or brand is great, but putting thoughts into action is more important. It's a good idea to visualise where you want to be, once you do that it will be easier to work out how to get there. 2. Define your audience. While working on building your personal brand you will need to figure out who you are selling your product to. Are you selling it for public consumption or are you selling it for corporate.
3. Build up your assets. While having a brand is important to get noticed, the thing that will get your set skills and ability noticed is your assets. These can be audio assets on a blog, or website, or even info pamphlets for up and coming events. Anything related to your brand name can also be considered an asset.
4. Build outreach In order to extend your music to new people, it's a good idea to piggyback on the audience of others. Not by spamming your website across community pages but by reaching out to other content creators in your industry to collaborate or to group your ideas and exchange audiences. This is great for both parties because they usually both gain something from the exchange.
5. Free press coverage
They say any press is good press because it gets your name out in the world. While that may not be 100% true, I think most press is good press. Any review or mention of your name across a substantial amount of people will inevitably reach your target audience. This isn't easy to achieve however can be used to massive effect if done correctly. The outcome you are looking for isn't so much the story that the press is covering or convincing them to run a story on you, but the label they give you in that story. Alternately charity events receive a lot of free press coverage.
6. Connect with mentors
A good way of making sure that your content is relevant and at an acceptable level of skill is to gain feedback from professionals or educators.
7. Monitor your brand Feedback is very important to make sure your brand is hitting the right target, so having some sort of way to comment is great.
8. Be yourself Honesty is everything online, someone who is pretending to be someone they're not can be seen through in an instant and there's nothing the online community hates more than lies.
