It's the beginning of week 2 so according to my production plan I should be halfway done with the composition and working on recording the vocals. I am about 2/3rds of the way there, the vocals session has been booked for next Tuesday the 18th due to SAE being closed over easter. I haven't got any more weeks to push the project back further since it will be the end of uni soon. So I'll have to make time up somewhere else. I have uploaded the 2/3rds complete 7:30 minute long track into the feedback channel to gain some feedback but after a couple days no feedback yet. I'll try again when I've completed the mix. Since the vocals will be recorded next tuesday, this gives me less editing time, so I'll still have until the end of week 12 to have a final mix ready to implement. I think that this can be achieved, but I'll have to do some mixing while I wait for creative inspiration, and also while waiting until the vocals are done. So far the state of the song is pleasant and I'm liking what I've got so far, the first song sounds a little full, and may need to be stripped back once the vocals are recorded in order to give some room. I planned the second song a little better and it has more empty space for vocals to be inserted. In all 3 songs I plan to use similar sounding tones, but each having it's own unique feel. Ideally sounding like 3 songs of a single album, so far I think I have accomplished this, though without feedback it's a bit hard to be certain. I've tested the songs on several sets of speakers, including, the midi room rockets, my mate's surround sound system that has 4 subs (It's rediculously subb-y) My computers tiny speakers, which provide a good amount of mids - high output so I can accurately gain how much of it is in my mix. And of course my headphones that I'm learning more and more about each day. I realise that what I think is a good level of bass in my headphones is always too much when I transfer it over to a bigger set of speakers such as the rockets and most definitely the 4 sub setup.
